Health advice for Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a very popular destination for expatriates who are attracted by the ease of doing business, low taxes, a good public transport system and the fact that English is widely spoken.
There are health risks in the former British colony, and expats should be aware of the relatively high levels of air pollution, the quality of some street food and dengue fever transmitted by mosquitos.
The Healthcare System
Hong Kong is one of the more expensive places in the world to obtain healthcare and this tends to be reflected in the price of private medical insurance schemes. THE UK’s FCO recommends taking out comprehensive travel insurance before travelling to Hong Kong and all governments recommend that expatriates take out international private medical insurance (IPMI) whilst living there.
